Healthy Eating Habits

Contrary to popular belief, dogs and cats do not need variety in their diet. In fact, this can lead to intestinal problems. Using a good quality and nutritional balanced diet throughout the puppy stage will help maintain  good health
in the adult and older years of life. Switching brands abruptly can cause diarrhea.
Any change  of diet must be done gradually and slowly.

The use of table scraps can also lead to obesity and a  medical condition called "pancreatitis," which is life threatening.
Avoid giving your puppy chocolate, bacon , raw onions, raisins or grapes can also be toxic.
Most dogs and cats do not tolerate cow milk very well. It may cause diarrhea. Raw eggs can cause Salmonella
infection in dogs as well as people. Never give bones of any kind to your dog since they have the potential to splinter,
chip  and can cause intestinal perforation or blockage which are serious conditions.
Begging by the owner's table is an undesirable habit that is easier to prevent than it is to cure. A dog that begs at the
dinner table is not pleasant for most people. This leads to the stealing of food scraps and as a consequence, unhealthy
weight gain, which can lead to medical problems in older dogs.
If you want to give a human food as a treat to your dog, try to give them carrots or apples. Most dogs quickly  acquire a taste for them.

At Aloha, we have regular and prescription  Hill's Science Diets  available to our clients as well as Royal Canine Diet. We can special order certain varieties on regular bases to your request.
