Testosterone is the hormone responsible for the of the cat's male sexual behavior. Intact cats will feel the need to roam outside, mark his territory (urine has a strong smell) , get into fights to show dominance and breed the female in heat . Neutering will decrease this sexual secondary characteristics and allow the cat to be safer and healthier.
The surgery is very simple, the cat is under general anesthesia, a small incision is made on the scrotum and each testicle is removed, the spermatic cord tied and return to the inguinal canal. No stitches are required, the recovery is fast and the cat can home home the same day of the surgery. Infection are rarely seen.
